In the gym we have a lot of rules but overall there for you safety and comfort. We ask that you fallow the rules. Failing to fallow the rules will end up in demerits with is usually 20 pushups or 10 stairs. Enough demerits may lead to a belt demotion so try to fallow the rules as best as you can.
- Hygiene
- Do not wear shoes on the mat
- Rinse your feet in foot bath before entering the mat
- Sanitize your hands before class
- Do not bring food or drink on the mat
- Do not take or barrow other students equipment
- Make sure your Gi is clean
- You must wear a shirt or rash guard under your GI
- Make sure your finger and toe nails are cut and filed
- Do not put your hands in your or anyone else’s mouth
- Do not chew gum in gym
- Do not spit in gym
- Do not put used toilet paper in garbage
- Take a shower before and after class
- Do not come to class if you Ringworm, Impetigo, or MRSA (staph infection)
- Do not wrestle with any mat diseases
- Safety
- Remove all your accessories such as jewelry, piercing, necklace, and wrist watches.
- Do not misuse gym equipment
- Put away all gym equipment after use
- If under fourteen stay out of the weight lifting area
- Do not fight dirty such as scratching, biting, slamming, or head-butting
- Do not use weapons in class
- Do not show up to class intoxicated
- If you need to leave class earlier let your instructor know
- Respect
- Before class starts turn off your cell phone and put it in your locker
- Do not be late to class
- Your Gi and Belt must be on when class starts
- Do not remove your belt during class
- You are to be lined up in descending order of rank (height if child)
- When the instructor is talking, give the instructor your full attention
- Do not intentionally harm others
- Do not intentionally relieve gas inside the academy
- Do not hit the heavy bags while instructors are demonstrating techniques
- Do not use foul language or putt downs
- Do not jeer or use negative coaching
- Refer to the head of the gym as master
- Automatic Belt Demotions
- Vandalization of gym property
- Intentionally smearing hands and face on windows and mirrors
- Graffiti or drawing on property
- Kicking or punching holes in the wall
- Theft or destruction of dojo, master, or student property
- Gatorade
- Sparring equipment
- Cell phones
